Where is Mad Monkey Gili Trawangan?

Gili Trawangan is a small island off of mainland Lombok, just an hour and a half east of Bali. “Gili T” is 3 kilometers long and 2 kilometers wide — the perfect little slice of paradise! There are no motor vehicles allowed on the island so most visitors walk or cycle around.

 

How to get to Mad Monkey Gili Trawangan

To get here, you must take a boat from either Lombok (30 minute ferry) or from Bali (90 minute speed boat). For more details on how to get here, read our guide on how to get to the Gili islands.

We recommend getting the EkaJaya boats, as they are the most reliable. From Padang Bai Fast Boat Harbour in Bali, the boat takes about 90 minutes.

From the Gili Trawangan pier, head north up the coast for 750 meters. Turn left onto Jalan Vila Kelapa (look for Blu d’a Mare) and head west for 1.5 kilometers. When you reach the beach, turn right. Mad Monkey is 2 minutes up the road.

Would definitely recommend this place, very clean & spacious rooms, friendly staff, great food at the bar and the facilities there like the pool, bar and volleyball Court were great way to meet people. Music was off by 10:30 every night which is great for a good night's sleep or you can go out if you wish. The only thing that needs work is the toilet/shower facilities, taps were always broken and leaking/not clean and the showers had awful water pressure but overall great place!

This hostel was great! The staff were a highlight, super friendly and always keen to help out with anything. Especially Billy! Such a legend, he made everyone feel right at home. The rooms and bathrooms are the tidiest I’ve seen in a hostel. Food at the hostel restaurant was delicious could happily eat breakfast, lunch and dinner there. I absolutely loved my time here, would stay again and recommend to others! Keep it up team 😊

This is a really great Mad Monkey, friendly and fun staff, nice clean air conditioned rooms, and many toilets. There's always something happening so it's easy to make friends, it's also right in the beach. The one downfall for some, would be that the location is on the other side of all the action. But in other ways, it could be nice to be able to escape to mad monkey to go to sleep. Over all 5 stars!
